Space Engineering Institute

All students who have been trained at the institute become not only fluent users in modern computer technologies and computer-aided design, but also become developers of software packages. During the preparation, students reinforce their knowledge gained in the classroom, on the bases of innovation units engaged in design, construction, calculation and production of real products. On the basis of the Mechanical Engineering Space Research Institute, students and staff, together with specialists from Space Rocket Centre "Progress" are developing small spacecrafts "Aist", two of which are already exploring near-Earth space. The Space Research Department develops nanosatellites with minimum dimensions and weight.
As a part of exchange programs and double degree programs, students of the Institute are trained in universities of Italy, Spain, Germany, France and China. 

Aerospace Propulsion Institute

Aerospace propulsion institute is one of the leading Russian aerospace institutes. Students study innovative computer technology design and engines production, working with the most advanced specialized software packages. Already at the end of the program, students will become highly qualified professionals with experience in dealing with complex production, management, scientific and technical problems. This is achieved by means of professional teaching staff and powerful modern material and technical base.
Academics, doctors and professors, designers, leading specialists in various economy and science industries are widely known among the graduates.
Institute collaborates with leading aerospace complex enterprises of Samara region, Russian Federation and foreign companies.

StrAU.

Aeronautical Engineering Institute

The Institute has a highly qualified faculty staff, excellent material and technical base - teaching and research laboratories, computer classes and the training airfield with many aircrafts.
Institute graduates become good aircraft designers and technologists, they maintain and test serial aircrafts, provide aircraft operations safety at the Russian and international airlines, work as an engineer of compressor stations on main gas pipelines and gas processing plants, organize transport logistics and ensure the efficiency of commercial aircraft work at the offices of Russian airlines abroad.
Since 2007, the aeronautical engineering department have been training aircraft maintenance specialists of foreign aircraft manufactures like Boeing and Airbus under order of airlines and maintenance organizations. Since 2008, the best students have been going abroad to the leading aircraft operating enterprises for internship.

Industrial Engineering Faculty

The faculty is one of the leading Russian scientific and educational centers in the field of modern materials and innovative technologies for the products production.
Faculty provides training of specialists who have skills in modern computer-aided design systems (COMPASS, NX, CATIA) and in reverse engineering (ANSYS, DEFORM, PAMSTAMP, PROCAST). Since the opening of training areas in "Nanoengineering" department, along with the traditional aerospace and engineering industries, faculty have been providing training for petroleum, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
The faculty has already trained more than 5,000 highly qualified engineers, bachelors and masters, many of them received diplomas with honors. The engineering staff and top management of the Samara Metallurgical Plant - a part of the American company ALCOA, was formed by alumni of SSAU Industrial engineering faculty. International programs are implemented in cooperation with the leading scientific and educational United States and Germany centers of production.

Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering Institute

Electronics and instrumentation engineering institute is the largest division of the University that has trained more than 5,000 highly skilled specialists in the field of electronics.
Students have access to several computer classes and study computer technology, programming and mathematical modeling. Many students are actively involved in scientific research departments to create microelectronic, diagnostic equipment, computer systems, equipment for atmosphere research outside an aircraft, and equipment for aircraft liquid systems diagnostics, technology process controls and other processes.

Computer Science Faculty 

Computer Science Faculty is a recognized educational and scientific center of Samara region in the field of information technology.
Image Processing Systems Institute of Russian Academy of Science and international IT companies NetCracker, EPAM Systems, Mercury Development, Haulmont, Adopt Innovation Inc. are actively participating in educational process.
Students get deep knowledge in the field of mathematics, physics and programming skills to work with computers and information technology. Students have free access to Internet (including free Wi-Fi), free access to the supercomputer center resources, to the world information databases, they also have opportunities to study modern computational and information GRID-technologies. There is a system of grant support for talented students to study abroad, with participation in exchange programs and international conferences.

Economics and Management Faculty

Faculty provides training of qualified specialists in the field of economics, management and business informatics.
The Faculty offers a wide range of economic and management disciplines with a focus on fundamental university training.
Big research projects are carried out on the Faculty. Each year, more than 70 graduate students and applicants study at the Faculty. There are three dissertation councils responsible for dissertation defenses in economics, which are the manpower sources for higher qualification of the faculty. Samara scientific and educational center of management problems was created together with the Institute of Control Sciences named after V.A. Trapeznikov Russian Academy of Science (RAS).
In 2015, publishing and book distribution department became a part of Economics and Management Faculty. The department provides training in two areas: "Printing and packaging production technology" and "Publishing".

Basic Training and Fundamental Sciences Faculty

Basic Training and Fundamental Sciences Faculty was established in order to better coordinate and guide the process of preparation of career­oriented high school and undergraduate students. The faculty includes departments and units providing the fundamental training in basic sciences.
We conduct training for academic subjects (modules) of a "Humanitarian, social and economic" and "Mathematics and sciences" cycles in the training of students in the fields and majors of the University faculties.

Continuing Professional Education Institute

This faculty serves as an integrator of the most popular knowledge and technology in the education market, it is one of the leading centers of professional development in the Samara region.

Aviation College

SSAU Aviation College was founded in 1944 to provide mid-level specialists for aircraft construction enterprises. Since 2008, the College has been a SSAU subdivision, it is still preparing mid-level specialists according to the needs of aerospace enterprises and other industries of Samara region.
SSAU Aviation College uses university staff potential and its educational-production base in educational activities. It provides full-time, part-time and external programs. At present, Aviation College gives preparation of mid-level specialists in six specialties, and since 2014 also provide one of the bachelor programs.

Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics

Students have an opportunity to work in eight scientific and research laboratories. Informatics classes are held in computer rooms equipped with modern information technologies and internet access. Scientific library gives access to full-text resources of the leading world publishing houses in the fields of mathematics and computer science.
The faculty offers postgraduate study in six majors. The faculty maintains close scientific contacts with the Russian Academy of Sciences and leading national research centres. Besides the scientists of the faculty have their internship in Germany, China, Australia, Spain, Poland, Sweden, the USA and cooperate with their colleagues in mutual scientific programs.
The Department prepares highly qualified specialists in Mathematics, Mechanics, Mathematical Modeling, IT and Information Protection which are in great demand among regional, Russian and international companies and enterprises.

The Faculty of Physics

The Faculty was founded in 1969. Professor A.D. Ershov was the first dean and the head of the Department of Physics. The Faculty has modern material, technical resources, and a highly qualified teaching staff. 
The Faculty fruitfully cooperates with the leading academic, scientific and research organizations: Physical and Mathematical Institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Joint Institute of Nuclear Research (Dubna), Scientific-Research Institute of Nuclear Physics of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Institute of Metallophysics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ioffe Physical Technical Institute (St. Petersburg), Frantsevich Institute for Problems of Materials Science (Ukraine), Institute of Solid State Physics and Institute of Radio Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Centre for Quantum Technologies (National University of Durban, South African Republic).
The faculty prepares specialists for productive and rewarding careers in science and research, education and industry. Faculty of Biology

The Faculty of Biology and Chemistry was established in 1970. The history of the faculty is closely connected with the name of Dr., Professor L.F. Mavrinskaya who was the founder of the first Department – the Department of Zoology. John P. Mozgovoy, the senior lecturer, was the first dean of the Chemistry and Biology faculty; he made a great contribution into the development of the faculty.
Today the faculty of Biology continues to develope the traditions of its founders. 
Biology is a synthetic science that requires profound knowledge of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Philosophy. The curriculum is designed to provide students with advanced theoretical and practical instruction. Practical training is implemented on the base of Zhiguli state reserve, Krasnosamarsky forestry, Samara Botanic Garden, etc.
The Departments actively implement research activities and participate in grant programmes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and foreign foundations. The academics and students of Biology conduct research work by request of regional enterprises and establishments.

The Faculty of Chemistry

Today the faculty comprises four Departments representing contemporary branches of Chemistry and offers wide variety of majors.
At the Department of Inorganic Chemistry students synthesize new inorganic compounds and research the correlations between composition, structure and properties applying contemporary methods of analysis. Scientific work of the academics and students is financed by Russian Foundation for Basic Research and awarded by MAIK “Nauka/ Interperiodika”.
The Department of Organic, Bioorganic and Medical Chemistry specializes in the field of organic synthesis. The Department of General Chemistry and Chromatography is the first and only one in Russia that trains specialists of Chromatography.
The Department of Analytic and Expert Chemistry, being the only such department in Russia, prepares specialists for chemical laboratories and production control departments of enterprises. It also trains forensic experts for forensic science centres and the departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, drug enforcements agencies, medicolegal investigation, Samara Centre for Standardization, Metrology and Certification, Consumer Protection Committee, etc.The Faculty creates a favourable environment for study and research. The academicians widely apply informational technologies and interactive forms of teaching. Students have access to a large scale of research material and rich library. They get acquainted with new methods of chemical analysis and research, as well as learn to use modern equipment.

The Faculty of Law

Students of Law actively participate in a numerous conferences, round tables and seminars in Samara and all over Russia as well. The best students' theses are published in university scientific annuals.
Students have opportunities to put their theoretical knowledge into practice, the legal advice office attached to the Samara Regional Duma and Union of Lawyers. They provide free legal assistance to Samara citizens.
The department has a great number of contacts with other law universities in Russia and abroad and regularly invites professors who give lectures at university.

Faculty of Psychology

The faculty offers high quality education in significant social fields of contemporary science. Thus, social psychologists work with organizations, groups, teams and collectives (in sport, management, industry, etc.) Psychological counselors focus their professional competency on individual characteristics and human problems; enable people to find decisions in complicated life situations; teach them to overcome frustration, fears, phobias and stress; and help to give up negative addictions. In the field of Organizational Psychology and Management Psychology, a human being is considered as a subject of management and self-management. This covers Psychology of Advertising, Business Psychology, Psychology of Negotiation Process, Coaching, and Economic Psychology.
The degree programme “Psychological and Pedagogical Education” meets important social demands and trains highly qualified specialists for social work in families, institutions of general and additional education, pre-school preventive establishments, centres of children’s leisure and art, etc. The Social Pedagogy programme emphasizes on studying pedagogical and psychological disciplines, legal foundations of maternity and childhood protection, youth rights, life safety and protection of labour.
As a result our graduates have the opportunity to study and conduct research in a stimulating and highly rewarding environment where profound theoretical instruction is combined with in-depth practical training in a huge variety of organizations and establishments of social, business, medical, and educational fields.

The Faculty of Philology

The Faculty of Philology of Samara State University has always complied with to the highest standards of classical education, being loyal to academic traditions and following up-to-date directions. The demands for informational, communicative and cultural competencies are constantly growing in different professional spheres.
The faculty train specialists within the classical University program, harmoniously combining linguistics and study of literature with the classical curriculum. With proficiency in the foreign language, students receive knowledge about the society and the culture of the country, whose language they learn and become experienced in the research work.
The best students of the faculty receive personal scholarships from the President of Russian Federation; the Governor of Samara Region, P.V. Alabin’s Fund; the academic council of Samara State University; and the Oxford Russian Fund. Students are awarded medals by the Department of Education and Science of Russian Federation. Outstanding students of Foreign Philology (German Language and Literature) annually win scholarships offered by German Service of Academic Exchange for semester education in Germany, students and postgraduate students become the prize-winners of regional competitions and get research grants.

Faculty of History

Today the Faculty of History implements graduate training that ranges from the ancient world to the present, and offers the foundation for a broad-based education. It is one of the largest History faculties in the region.
The graduate majors of the Faculty of History are designed to provide students with advanced instruction and training in three blocks: social and economic, natural sciences and professional disciplines. Senior students choose specific field of studies within their specialization. Experienced supervisors guide students’ academic and scientific work. Theoretical training is strengthened during practical work: archeological, museum, archive and teaching practices.

The Faculty of Economics and Management

The faculty educates new leaders for productive careers in management, economy and business. The respected reputation of the faculty at the labour market is confirmed by successful employment and brilliant career of our graduates.
The curriculum is designed to provide students with profound knowledge in such disciplines, as: Personnel Management, Crisis Management, Logistics, Micro and Macroeconomics, Economic-Mathematical Modelling, Budgeting, Economic and Social Statistics, State Administration System, etc. Solid theoretical instruction is accompanied by deep practical training. Students of the faculty undertake internships in industrial enterprises, marketing and consulting agencies, transport companies, banks, regional and city administration, customs, etc. The faculty efficiently stimulates scientific and research work of students. The students have the opportunities to implement their scientific and research ambitions through participation in the Students’ Scientific Society and participation in annual scientific conferences.

Faculty of Sociology

The teaching staff is undoubtedly the keystone of success for the faculty. All of them are highly qualified professionals, who are devoted to their work and democratic to their students.
Major in “Cultural studies” provides education in the following specializations: Russian culture, Management of cultural sphere, Tourism, Cultural heritage protection.
Within major in “Social work” students can specialize in Social work management, and Social and legal protection of population.
Students of Journalism can choose between two specializations in Mass media and PR and advertising.
Institute of Social Techniques is founded at the Faculty of Sociology which enables students to participate in researches and surveys ordered by the Governor and Government of Samara region and other authorities of the city and the region. The Faculty of Sociology has strong connections with Institute of Sociology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, faculties of the best Russian Universities as well as with the universities of Great Britain, Germany and the USA.
The Department of cultural studies has long-term contacts with Russian association of managers of culture, Russian association of theatre arts, Institute of cultural studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Department of theory and technology of social work cooperates with Russian department of UNESCO, International research institute of senior citizens’ problems, Russian state social university; it actively participates in different events held by Ministry of public health and social development of Samara region. Department of theory and history of journalism collaborates with editorial boards of the leading Samara mass media, non-governmental organizations of journalists of the regions as well as of Russia, with the best universities of the country.
