SSAU team took the 1st place in the competition of engineering teams within the competence of “Lifecycle Management” at the National Championship of cross-industry working professions in high-tech industries WorldSkills Hi-Tech-2015 in Yekaterinburg.

Participants of WorldSkills Hi-Tech-2015 competed in skill not only in the main working professions, but also tried their hand in the perspective competences, which have not been standardized yet. Such areas as industrial design, industrial robotics, reverse engineering, laser technology and life cycle management were presented within the framework of FutureSkills presentation part. Competitions in the competence “Lifecycle Management” was organized by the Open Technology Academy jointly with JSC “Gas-Turbine Engineering Research and Production Centre ”Salut” (part of United Engine Corporation).

The competition was attended by the teams of three universities: Samara State Aerospace University named after S. P. Korolev (SSAU), Ural Federal University named after B. N. Yeltsin (UFU) and Russian State Vocational Pedagogical University (RSVPU).

SSAU was represented by undergraduates and postgraduates Gleb Abramov, Vyacheslav Alekseev, Ruslan Galiakhmetov, Rumiya Kamalieva, Olga Mitrishkina, Aleksandr Nigurey, Svetlana Odintsova, Oleg Lukyanov and Aleksandr Pavlov. The team leader is Marina Kremenetskaya, assistant professor of the Department of Aircraft Construction and Design of Aeronautical Engineering Institute.

The competition was held under the program of technology breakthrough “TehnoPRORYV”. This training technology is designed for students and employees of industrial enterprises, enables to engage young people in scientific and technical projects, improve their occupational training, unlock the potential of specialists in development of substandard engineering solutions, which would have economic benefits for the business.

The teams were challenged with only three days to develop a jetpack that allows a person to float in the air and move at large distances by force of jet thrust, and thereafter think over the market promotion of the project through the use of start-up technology. Implementation of this project may be required in various sectors: in operational air force - for undercover throwing of reconnaissance group into enemy territory and in civil aviation - for air sports, tourism and entertainment.

The participants developed the project concepts, prepared design and engineering documentation, performed strength, aerodynamic and economic calculation as well as marketing research, made 3D-printed model of the developed jetpack. Thus, the young people have implemented in practice the stages of the product life cycle working in a team, in a constant coordination with each other.
The competitors’ works were evaluated by an expert jury, which included Svetlana Kraychinskaya, Vice President on Human Resources of PJSC “UAC”, Nikolay Nasonov, director of Laser Centre of the Republic of Tatarstan, German Suvorov, Development Director of LLC “INGINITI”, Aleksandr Likhachev, engineer of the group of companies “Geoskan”, Dmitriy Kaysin, founder, CEO of the Open Technology Academy (OTA), Konstantin Kaysin, COO of the Open Technology Academy and Aleksandr Ryzhov, co-founder, Executive Director of LLC “Avian Telerobotiks”.

As a result of the projects defence the winner of the competition “Lifecycle Management” became SSAU team, which was able to offer a new product concept made of composite materials and refine the design, carry out all the necessary calculations, develop manufacturing method of the product and make a high-quality presentation of the project to the championship experts and guests.

“Knowledge and skills in the area of Product Lifecycle Management helped us to win the national championship. Each of the young people knew and understood that the results of one stage of a life cycle are directly dependent on the work quality and period in the previous stage. Teamwork skills became an important criterion in this competition, taking into account extremely short time of the project implementation. Consolidated and coordinated work and focus on the final result have allowed our team to make technology breakthrough in the nomination FutureSkills”,- emphasized Marina Kremenetskaya, team leader of SSAU.

All contestants of engineering teams were awarded with diplomas, and the winners received gift certificates for training in Open Technology Academy totalling to 150 thousand roubles.
