The parties confirmed their intention to develop long-term educational, engineering and technical relations. The University and a group of companies plan to conduct joint research in the field of energy management, efficiency, automation of technological and energetic processes, they are also actively engaged in the development of new technologies and techniques in Russia.
SSAU and Schneider Electric also intend to develop cooperation in the field of specialists training, staff development and education. According to the mutual opinion of the parties, joint activities in this area will enhance the competitiveness of Russian education in the world.
Joachim Dahms recalled, that SSAU seeks to enter the top 100 of the best universities in the world, and in this regard in 2020 the University should enrol over a thousand foreign students, as well as to invite foreign experts for teaching in an amount of not less than 10% of higher-education teaching personnel. Joachim Dahms underlined that Schneider Electric, as an international company, is ready to give the most effective support to this University.
“We must become such partners who will show an example to others, - said Evgeniy Shakhmatov. – I’m sure that Samara Aerospace University will create programs for staff training and retraining, and tomorrow other companies and enterprises will be lining up for participation therein, by virtue of the order of such a large corporation as Schneider Electric.”
Developing the theme of mutually beneficial cooperation and implementation of modern technologies in the production, Evgeniy Shakhmatov suggested specialists Schneider Electric to get acquainted with SSAU advanced developments. For example, technology of magnetic-impulse metal working (MIMW). They allow producing parts of complex shapes that cannot be obtained by conventional methods.
During several decades SSAU scientists are engaged not only in research in this direction, but also in production of the relevant industrial equipment. Currently, the University cooperates not only with domestic enterprises, but also with foreign corporations.
Thus in summer 2014 SSAU was visited by the delegation of Alcoa Scientific and Technical Centre (Pittsburgh, USA). American experts became interested in SSAU development of NIL-41 in the field of magnetic-impulse technologies. International contracts for supply of technologies and equipment on almost half a million USD have been made during the visit.
At the same time a cooperation agreement has been made with Alcoa Scientific and Technical Centre in educational directions. Currently six SSAU students and young scientists attend special courses and prepare to defend Master's dissertation in the areas selected by Alcoa in magnetic-impulse metal working. Alcoa Scientific and Technical Centre undertake to pay tuition fees and scholarships for training of these specialists. Two best students in this group will be trained and will have the opportunity for further employment in Alcoa Scientific and Technical Centre in Pittsburgh.
