Today, on the 1th of July, took place the opening of Russia-wide students construction project on the space-launch complex “Vostochniy”. There are representatives of Samara universities among hundreds of students who arrived in Amur Region. They are participants of student’s team "Legenda" of Samara State Aerospace University. They will spend two months of summer practice season in the Far East.
"I hope that on this trip I’ll be able to touch rocket and space industry directly - says a two-year student of the Faculty of Aircraft of SSAU Aleksey Merkulenkov. – As a future specialist in this field, I receive a wonderful opportunity to contribute to the development of Russian space exploration in this construction brigade. In addition, this trip promises many interesting acquaintances and impressions”.
SSAU students participated in today's celebratory assembly, where Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin and Head of Roscosmos Oleg Ostapenko addressed the construction brigade students.
Rector of SSAU Yevgeniy Shakhmatov also took part at the opening ceremony of the student construction project on “Vostochniy". He emphasized the special importance of participation of Samara students in this project. The fact is that the first rocket to be launched from the space-launch complex “Vostochniy” will be "Soyuz-2.1a" with launching block "Volga" produced by Samara "Central Assembly and Design Engineering Bureau- Progress". It is expected, that a small spacecraft "Aist-2" will be a part of the payload. Now it is created by engineers of Samara enterprise and SSAU students. And another training satellite "Lomonosov" will keep company to it.
"Participation of students in the grand cosmic construction - is really important and momentous event, - noticed Yevgeniy Shakhmatov. - It gives young people a unique opportunity: to join the big project that will help to elevate our space industry to the next level right now. A little over a year our Samara "Soyuz" and later "Angara" will take off for the first time here. And perhaps a rocket launching installation for a new super-heavy rockets will be here, which, I hope, SSAU graduates will make in the shops of "Central Assembly and Design Engineering Bureau- Progress".
For reference. Space-launch complex “Vostochniy” is being built near Uglegorsk settlement in Amur Region. The space-launch complex will include two starting complexes, technical complex, airfield, facilities for prelaunch training of astronauts, oxygen and nitrogen plant and a hydrogen peroxide preparation plant, storage and transportation complex for rocket fuel components, 115 km of autoroads and 125 km of railways as well as other facilities.
