International scientific and technical conference 'Problems and prospects of development of engine building' will be opened in SSAU
26.06.2014, 15:32
Over 350 scientists and engineers from leading industrial, research and educational centres in Russia, the CIS countries, as well as Germany and Italy will attend the conference in 2014. The whole process of creating one of the most high-tech aerospace products - aircraft engines, as well as issues on training of personnel for this industry will be considered within the framework of the nine scientific sessions.
Most of the topics under discussion are of great practical importance for development of aviation and astronautics. For example, this year representatives of State Scientific and Production Space and Missile Centre “Central Specialised Construction Bureau Progress” plan to address issues of formation and meeting requirements for propulsion installations of a new promising medium capacity launcher “Soyuz-5”. Initiative of Samara rocket scientists is remarkable that liquefied natural gas will be used in composition of the new rocket fuel.
A feature of this year's conference will be the International Summer School on engine building. The participants will be postgraduate and doctoral students of SSAU and the Institute of aircraft engines (ILA) of the University of Stuttgart. Young scientists are going to discuss the implementation of international research projects and prepare a number of joint papers in leading scientific journals for publication.
For reference. The first conference on strength in engine building took place in SSAU (former KAI) as early as in 1960. It was initiated by Nikolay Kuznetsov.
Nikolai Kuznetsov is a Chief Designer of Scientific and Production Association “Trud” - JSC " Samara Research and Technology Centre named after N D. Kuznetsov”, Academician of Russian Academy of Science, Professor. Under his leadership the company created 57 original and modified gas turbine engines for aircrafts for various purposes, liquid propellant systems for space rocket complexes as well as engines for driving compressors pumping units and power generators.
In 1994 Nikolay Kuznetsov was awarded the title “SSAU Honorary Doctor” for outstanding contribution to the development of the Faculty of aircraft engines, the Department of construction and design of aircraft engines and ONIL-1.
The conference program is available on SSAU site.
