Meteorite Collection of Russian Academy of Science

Meteorites are a key source - often the only source - of information about the early protoplanetary history of the Solar System.

The meteorite collection of the Russian Academy of Sciences is one of the largest in the world and contains more than 800 meteorites of all groups and types, including many rare and unique ones.

A sample of the Sikhote-Alin iron meteorite, a large meteorite shower.
Bragin - a stony-iron meteorite.
Efremovka, a carbonaceous CV3 chondrite with white refractory inclusions (CAIs). CAIs are the oldest material of the Solar System.
Karakol - an ordinary LL6 chondrite. This sample has a perfect aerodynamic shape. Migei. This meteorite gave its name to an entire class of meteorites, group CM. The M in CM refers to Migei. Clipperton - an ordinary H3-5 chondrite. Clipperton was recovered from the bottom of the Pacific Ocean at a depth of 5 km.
