In the only Russian launch in September, the last Parus-based navsat/sarsat satellite was launched from Plesetsk. It was also the first COSPAS satellite to use new onboard search and rescue transponder, RK-SM. Follow-on RK-SM units will use Sterkh, the new microsatellite bus currently in development in Omsk.
