DB Salyut designed it on the basis of the transportation supply ship (TSS). The length of the module is 13.0 m; maximum diameter 4.3 m; mass at the launch 19000 kg. Module Priroda was launched from Baikonur on April 23, 1996 by the LV Proton-K. It docked to the nose docking port of the core vehicle and by its robot arm redocked to the side port. It is the newest module in the OC. Its main purpose is in remote probing of the Earth's surface. The composition of the scientific equipment of the module is given below.
