Neutral buoyancy - is one of the most effective means of simulating the extra-vehicular activity conditions. This method is based on putting space modules, vehicles and EVA-suit donned cosmonauts in the swimming pool under conditions of neutral buoyancy, indifferent equilibrium and unsupported state.

Extra-vehicular activity (EVA) is a special aspect of cosmonauts' professional activity, which is carried out under conditions of a complex influence of outer space factors. EVA means the crew (cosmonauts) actions outside the pressure-tight compartments of the manned space vehicle or inside the depressurized compartments. It serves as the main integral part of assembly and exploitation of orbital manned complexes with use of engineering systems, special EVA-suits and harness, hardware and technical documentation. The opening/closure of the exit hatch is considered to be an EVA start/termination..

Weightlessness is one of the major factors, determining the possibility and special procedures of implementation of this or that technological operation under space conditions. Weightlessness effect on the technological activity of a cosmonaut, on qualitative and quantitative results of his (her) work first of all is manifested in a form of unsupported state, thus affecting the implementation of different labor-requiring operations, what in its turn is resulted from the laws of mechanics.

All the diversity of operations, executed by cosmonauts in outer space, can be classified in accordance with the target tasks, i.e.:

  • Inspection of the assemblies and units, which are located on the external surface of the orbital space complex;
  • Scientific-research experiments;
  • Technical servicing;
  • Maintenance and repair operations;
  • Experiments on/in technological installations;
  • айй fragments assembly;
  • Assembly and dismantling operations, as well as operations on improving the performances of space engineering;
  • Ergonomic improvement of the system's components "operator - EVA-suit - on-board technical support facilities";
  • Off -nominal and emergency situations expertise and solution.
  • In "Hydrospace" you can experience feelings of an astronaut, working in outer space with the EVA-suit on. You can also dive into the swimming pool with the SCUBA equipment in order to examine the mock-ups of space stations and vehicles and pass a course of rehabilitation in a hyperbaric oxygenation complex. In addition you can do photo- and video-shooting of the EVA operations, using a unique high-quality equipment of the neutral buoyancy laboratory, as well as to realize a wide range of advertising, promotional and popular scientific projects.
