Яркий Регул рядом с карликовой галактикой Лео-I Bright Star Regulus near the Leo I Dwarf Galaxy
10.01.2012

The star near the top is so bright that it is sometimes hard to notice the galaxy toward the bottom. Pictured above, both the star, Regulus, and the galaxy, Leo I, can be found within one degree of each other toward the constellation of the Lion (Leo).

Спиральная галактика NGC 6744 Spiral Galaxy NGC 6744
8.08.2014

Big, beautiful spiral galaxy NGC 6744 is nearly 175,000 light-years across, larger than our own Milky Way. It lies some 30 million light-years distant in the southern constellation Pavo. We see the disk of the nearby island universe tilted towards our line of sight.

"Глаза" в цепочке галактик Маркаряна APOD: 2024 March 20 Б The Eyes in Markarians Galaxy Chain
20.03.2024

Across the heart of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster lies a string of galaxies known as Markarian's Chain. Prominent in Markarian's Chain are these two interacting galaxies, NGC 4438 (left) and NGC 4435 - also known as The Eyes.

NGC 2442: галактика в Летучей Рыбе NGC 2442: Galaxy in Volans
28.02.2009

Distorted galaxy NGC 2442 can be found in the southern constellation of the flying fish, (Piscis) Volans. Located about 50 million light-years away, the galaxy's two spiral arms extending from a pronounced central bar give it a hook-shaped appearance.

Галактики в Пегасе Galaxies in Pegasus
23.10.2014

This wide, sharp telescopic view reveals galaxies scattered beyond the stars and faint dust nebulae of the Milky Way at the northern boundary of the high-flying constellation Pegasus. Prominent at the upper right is NGC 7331.

Галактика Рубин Rubin s Galaxy
25.01.2020

In this Hubble Space Telescope image the bright, spiky stars lie in the foreground toward the heroic northern constellation Perseus and well within our own Milky Way galaxy. In sharp focus beyond is UGC 2885, a giant spiral galaxy about 232 million light-years distant.

Абель 2142: столкновение скоплений галактик Abell 2142: Clash of the Galaxy Clusters
6.03.2000

Over the course of billions of years, whole clusters of galaxies merge. Above is an X-ray image of Abell 2142, the result of the collision of two huge clusters of galaxies, and one of the most massive objects known in the universe.

Гигантские галактики в Павлине Giant Galaxies in Pavo
23.06.2023

Over 500,000 light years across, NGC 6872 (top right) is a truly enormous barred spiral galaxy, at least 5 times the size of our own very large Milky Way. The appearance of this giant galaxy's distorted and stretched out spiral arms suggests the magnificent wings of a giant bird.

Галактики с Альтиплано Galaxies from the Altiplano
13.10.2016

The central bulge of our Milky Way Galaxy rises over the northern Chilean Atacama altiplano in this postcard from planet Earth. At an altitude of 4500 meters, the strange beauty of the desolate landscape could almost belong to another world though.

Галактика-ребенок A Baby Galaxy
24.03.1998

What's the farthest galaxy known? The answer keeps changing as astronomers compete to find new galaxies which top the list. The new record holder is now the faint red smudge indicated in the above image by the arrow.
