Star Name: NSV 6052, GSC 8254-01530, 1RXS J130058.0-491205, HV 8484, ASAS130058-4912.2
Coordinates (J2000): 13 00 57.62, -49 12 12.3
Variability type: UGSS;   Limits, System: 11.0 - 13.9 (V);
Period: Epoch: JD

Remarks:
The variable star HV 8484 = NSV 6052 was discovered by Luyten (1935), who announced variations between 13.2 and 14.6 mag pg. The star was never studied in detail. The authors of the ASAS-3 survey (Pojmanski, 2002) included it into the ASAS-3 variable star catalog as a MISC/SR variable. The star is not red, with J = 11.530, H = 11.129, K = 10.978 in the 2MASS catalog (Cutri et al., 2003). I analyzed the ASAS-3 data and found that NSV 6052 was most probably a UGSS type cataclysmic variable, with characteristic cycle length between 33 and 43 days.

This study was supported by grants from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (05-02-16289), from the Program "Origin and Evolution of Stars and Galaxies" of the Presidium of Russian Academy of Sciences, and from the Program of Support for Leading Scientific Schools of Russia (NSh 5290.2006.2).
