1. Mail addresses on the Internet
. Internet mail addresses use what is known as "little endian" notation, with the bottom domain given first. For example: joe@ubik.cs.ed.ac.uk . The UK academic community used to give their addresses in JANET notation, with the order of domains reversed. This format is now outdated and should not be used. Your mail program might be configured to handle mail addresses given in other notations. Check with your system administrator for further information.
