SUMMARY
Arutyunyan V.V., Kazaryan A.S., Papov G.Yu. 2014. Determination of body condition index of some bat species (Chiroptera) of Azokh cave. н Plecotus et al. 17: 37н42. Azokh cave is located between the villages Azokh and Drakhtik of Hadrut region of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, at an altitude of 1040 m a. s. l. The cave is 600 m long. It consists of 6 rooms and has two entrances on the distance of 200 m from each other. In summer months, the temperature in the extreme chambers comes to 18ђC, while in central halls to 13н15ђC. During the winter months temperature in the cave is constant 10н11ђC. Relative humidity in the cave is quite high, 67 н90%. In Azokh cave constantly live four bat species: Rhinolophus ferrumequinum, R. mehelyi, Myotis blythii and Miniopterus schreibersii. So, this cave can be ranked among the underground shelters of international importance. The purpose of this study was to evaluate bat populations. To determine the status of animals we used body condition index (BCI), which is the ratio of the observed body weight (W) to the expected (Wo = bR3, where b н regression coefficient, R н forearm length in cm). BCI was calculated for three from the named species. In Rhinolophus mehelyi and Miniopterus schreibersii BCI slightly deviates from the baseline equal to 1. However, in Myotis blythii BCI is significantly lower than the baseline.
