Sotnikov V.N., Lyapunov A.N., Mikulin A.V., Ryabov V.M., Akulinkin S.F. 2005. Bats of Kirov Region. ­ Plecotus et al. 8: 17-31. We began studying bats of Kirov Region in 1987. Since that time 80 specimens of 10 bat species known from the region have been captured (Table 1). Figs. 1-9 depict all finding localities of bats in Kirov Region (accompanied with the same numbers as in Table 2) and neighbouring territories (unnumbered). Species diversity of bats is influenced by environmental zonality (Fig. 10). In the south of the region, in subzone of mixed coniferous-broadleaved forest, all 10 species occur. In the central part, in the southern taiga subzone, one species (Myotis nattereri) is lost. In the middle taiga subzone, only four species have been found (two more species are expected there: M. brandtii and Plecotus auritus), and their number is extremely low.
