Handbook of Conformal Mapping with Computer-Aided Visualization
Florida: CRC Press, 1993
The book is a complete handbook on
conformal mapping applications in mathematical physics. The book
is supplied with IBM PC programs for Microsoft Windows for
conformal mapping visualization and analysis.
Conformal mappings are large and essential part of the
complex analysis. A conformal mapping is a graphical
representation of a function of a complex variable similar to a
plot of the function of a real variable being its graphical
image. Conformal mappings are included into all courses of
studies of the complex analysis.
An area of conformal mapping applications is relatively
narrow. It is used basically in problems reduced to Laplace or
Poisson equations in a plane, in particular for the calculation
and design of plane potential vector fields. Nevertheless in this
narrow area conformal mappings are very powerful tool allowing to
proceed with a problem till the very end, to visualize the field
(i.e., to construct its net of stress lines and equipotentials).
