This article analyses socio-demographic views of M.V. Lomonosov, represented in his treatise "Maintenance and reproduction of Russian people". The article discusses main problems concerning the reproduction of the Russian population, as well as specific practical recommendation suggested by this great Russian scientist. Lomonosov supported them with the solid explanations which were grounded on his own observations among Russian people as well as on scientific analysis of social facts. Particular attention is given to the topicality of Lomonosov's recommendations of how to improve the demographic situation in Russia.
