Dear colleagues!

You are welcome to participate in the work of the international conference 'Current state of the crabs populations in the Barents Sea and their interaction with bottom biocenoces '

Conference will take place in Murmansk on September 25 - 29, 2006 on the basis of the Murmansk Marine Biological Institute KSC RAS at the participation of Russian Academy of Sciences, A. N. Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution Problems, Inter-governmental ichthyological commission and other organizations.

A wide range of problems allowing to estimate a modern status of crabs of the Barents sea and first of all economically valuable species- introducers (red king crab, opilio crab) and their role in the ecosystem of an important for the commercial fishery Arctic area. Information concerning different aspect of crab biology from other areas (Northern Europe, Far East) which help to reveal biological processes taking place in the Barents Sea are also welcome.

We hope that the conference will arouse great interest in both: Russian and foreign specialists and will outline the major directions of investigations for the future perspective.
