jCrunch
jCrunch is a set of commercial-grade class libraries providing robust mathematical capabilities for the Java programming environment. jCrunch not only provides mathematical capabilities heretofore unavailable in Java, it does so at speeds competitive with compiled FORTRAN - while retaining pure Java compatibility jCrunch works in three different ways- which are called "run modes." In "pure Java" run mode, jCrunch works like any other JAVA program - on any platform, through a browser, but not as fast as FORTRAN. In "Native Code" run mode, jCrunch offers the same JAVA interface, function calls, and exception handlers; but calls a native FORTRAN library for fast performance. "Plug-in" run mode combines the advantages of the other two. In "plug-in" run mode, applets are distributed over the web and through a browser, are intercepted by the "Object Broker", and then exploits fast, native routines if pre-installed on the client computer. The first package in the jCrunch line, jCrunch Lapack, is a Java implementation of the LAPACK linear algebra library. Leveraging the high quality and wide availability of the existing Fortan technology, jCrunch brings the flexibility and programming power of Java to numerical computation. Using NativeBroker technology to transparently access native libraries, jCrunch makes no compromises with regard to execution speed. |
