This is a partial list of the SN discovered in 1998. For more information, you can look at the following Supernova Catalogs:
163 (actually 1 fewer) Supernova were reported in 1998 (163 last year), 35 in NGC and IC galaxies (29 last year), 54 better than 18th Mag (36 last year). The brightest this year was 1998bu in M96 topping out at Mag 11.6, followed closely behind by 1998S at 11.9 and 1998aq at 12.0. 5 Extragalactic Novae were also reported in 1998.
