New Year's speech of theRussian Rectors' Union President, academician V.A. Sadovnichiy to scientific and educational community

Dear Colleagues! Dear Friends! On the eve of the New 2012 I appeal to you with the words of holiday greetings and sincere wishes of success! Last year was ful research and education and collegial solidarity significant step towards i l of serious work, striking events and fruitful discussions for the Russian community. They were permanently based on the professional approach of the IHE community, due to which all decisions taken became a mprovement of the quality of national higher education.

Discussion of the plans of IHE development with the Chairman of the Government V.V. Putin became the milestone event for the Russian Rectors' Union. The meeting resulted in a number of important initiatives in higher education ­ on development of the programs of development of the institutions of higher education, establishment of the nationwide IHE quality evaluation system, improvement of the forms of work with the talented youth, strengthening of the IHE infrastructure, social support of the teaching staff. I express confidence that our team-work with state authorities, public organizations and employers on implementation of the set plans will become a serious step to strengthening of our IHE, improve their competitive positions in the international community. We have a great deal of work ahead of us. But the university life is a unique combination of hard labor with great joy of scientific creativity and communication with young talented students. I wish this joy to become the leitmotif of 2012, to change our daily routine, filling it with a high content of true co-work of generations in the name of science and education. We all believe in the great future of Russia!
