Dear Colleagues!

At the eve of New 2009 Year I address to Rectors and Presidents of
higher education institutions of Russia and to all those who share the
RRU's philosophy and principles - namely, education's fundamental
nature, its quality and accessibility.

The 2008 has continued the process of setting up the innovative
nature of higher education and its dynamic development. President of
RF in his message to Federal Assembly has called for creation of new
generation of professionals and for revival of Russia educational
system as the vital factor of country's competitiveness.

Today, during global economic crisis, Russia's Higher School has
no right to abandon national projects and slow down the gained
momentum of innovative development. Quite contrary, it must be a
leader of structural changes in country's economy by offering high-
level professionals.

Our community's task is, together with leading corporations and
scientific centers, to offer a program of cadres supply to support
industry's technological re-equipment and for innovative development
of regions.

I am sure that talented, highly educated youth could be a core for
breakthrough in system technologies updating and creation of new
economic structure.





Nowadays, country's Higher School faces several questions - what
is the essence of new schools: secondary, Higher, additional and
professional ones; what are society's future requirements; how retain
Higher School traditions during country's innovative development; what
forms of education could ensure professional training of youth?

Our community's positions on these problems will be discussed at
IX Congress of RRU in March 2009.

Dear friends! We foresee a lot of interesting and very important
work next year and more frequent encounters. We have everything to
look forward with optimism. We are sure that our plans to develop
Higher School system will be realized for the welfare of future
generations and for Russia's future.
