Since 1985 INP MSU hosts a series of meetings being conceived
with the purpose of presenting topics of current interest and pro
viding a stimulating environment for scientific discussion on new
developments in theoretical and experimental high energy physics
and physical programs for future machines.
Initially this series of meetings was created as a School for young
scientists of the USSR and later on they were transformed to in
ternational workshops. However, traditionally the list of workshop
attendees includes a great number of active young scientists from
various countries of the FSU.
The locations of the ten meetings were the following:
I Zvenigorod, Moscow region, 1985;
II Zimyonki, Moscow region, 1987;
III Zimyonki, Moscow region, 1988;
IV Uzhgorod, Ukraine, 1989;
V Sotchi, the Black Sea, Russia, 1990;
VI Sotchi, the Black Sea, Russia, 1991;
VII Sotchi, the Black Sea, Russia, 1992;
VIII Zvenigorod, Moscow region, 1993;
IX Zvenigorod, Moscow region,1994;
X Zvenigorod, Moscow region, 1995.
The IVth Workshop was organized in cooperation with the Uzh
gorod State University; the VIth one -- in cooperation with the
Rostov State University; the VIIIth one -- with the Branch of In
stitute of Nuclear Physics, SD RAS; and the IXth one -- with the
Moscow Engineering and Physics Institute.
Since 1991 the workshops got to be real international ones being
attended each year by more than 70 participants from the C.I.S.
and about 20 participants from other countries of the world: Cana
da, England, France, Germany, Holland, Japan, Korea, Norway,
Poland, Spain, the U.S.A. Last years the workshop programme tra
ditionally includes the following topics:
1

ffl Physics and recent results from HERA, TEVATRON, LEP,
TRISTAN etc.;
ffl New theoretical ideas and models (the Standard Model and
beyond, problems of loop calculations, string inspired models
etc.);
ffl Physics and experiments at future colliders.
Recent years due to economic difficulties in Russia the Organiz
ing Committee used to request sponsorships for covering workshop
expenses. For example, the following organizations and foundations
kindly supported the Workshop:
Deutsches ElektronenSynchrotron
International Science Foundation
Russian Foundation for Fundamental Research
MaxPlanckInstitЁut fЁur Physik
Heisenberg--Landau Programme
International Center for Fundamental Physics in Moscow
Moscow Cement Co.
Bank MENATEP
The provided support allowed to host the Workshop on the proper
scientific level and promoted for keeping contacts of the C.I.S. at
tendees with the world scientific community. The Organizing Com
mittee expresses its deepest gratitude to all above listed institutions
and foundations.
