CHANGES IN ELECTRICAL ACTVITY OF THE BRAIN IN RESPONSE TO LIGHT FLASHES COINCIDING WITH THE FREQUENCY RANGE OF THE ALPHA-RHYTHM

The experiment was aimed at studying the properties of the driving r eact ion of cortical biopotentials in healthy adult subjects in response to light flashes of differ ent intensity and fr equency. To analyse EEG, an automatic fr equency Walter analyser was used. Dependence has been established of the harmonic composition of the driving r eaction on the intensity of the s ti mulus and the functional state of the subject. In consequence, it was possible to single out various types of a mplitude characteristics of the har monic components of driving reaction, inher ent in alertness or sleep. The paper discusses the correctness and necessity of taking into account the harmonic composition of driving to appraise the functional s t a t e of the cer ebral cortex.
