Summary. The paper focuses on radical changes in Russian vocabulary at the beginning of XXI century determined by the overall changes in the conceptualization of the world and the system of values and cultural scripts. Russian words (either original or borrowed from other languages) referring to compromise and consumption are loosing their pejorative flavor and become markers of new values and attitudes alien to the traditional Russian culture.
