The preliminary program of the Congress-2004 contains the following groups of issues:
- Current issues of Russian Linguistics;
- Russian language in its history and prehistory;
- Russian language in imaginative writing;
- Russian as a means of the international and interethnic communication;
- Applied Rusistics and problems of the computer analysis of Russian language;
- Linguistic aspects of the traditional and contemporary Russian folklore analysis.
- Russian Language in a new geopolitical situation.

Requirements for abstracts
For the participation in the work of the Congress it is necessary to send abstracts up to 2 pages of the text (size 12pt, margins 2,5 sm, line spacing single, font Times New Roman Cyrillic) in WinWord format (*.RTF or *.DOC). The subject line should be noted as follows: "Abstract for RLC'2004 - Family name"
If some signs (for transcription or foreign language samples) are absent in this font you can use the standard widespread fonts (Symbol, Lucida Sans Unicode, SILDoulosIPA, SILDoulos IPA93). You can even use, as well, your own specific fonts, but in this case you have to send us this font (format *.ttf) with your abstracts.
For creation of schemes, diagrams and illustrations, please, use the Microsoft Office applications.
For textual markings, please, use the italic and bold types of letters.
Head of your abstracts must be drawn up in the following way:
- Title of abstract;
- Initials and surname of author (authors);
- Organization, which you are representing;
- Keywords (5 words max.)
- Summary in English (1-4 sentences, up to 500 signs)

Language of abstracts - Russian. (An abstract should be supplied with a summary in English in 1-4
sentences).
Abstracts should be sent by e-mail to the address: as an attached file to an e-mail message together with a registration form (see below).
Working languages of paper presentation at the Congress - Russian, English, German, French, Spanish.
Duration of a paper presentation
- 20 minutes for plenary papers (10 minutes for questions), 15 minutes - for papers at sections (5 minutes for questions). Program Committee reserves a possibility of stand presentation for some of papers.
Deadline for sending an abstract - October 1, 2003.
A decision by the Program Committee on the acceptance of an abstract will be announced to authors by e-mail till November 1, 2003.
Publication of the abstracts. A collection of the abstracts will be printed by the beginning of the Congress and will be available to the registered participants.
Publication of full texts of papers.
Full texts of papers of the Congress will be published by Moscow University Publishing house in several specialized publications after the selective and editorial procedures after the Congress. Requirements for full papers for Proceedings of the Congress see later on the site of the Congress.
Registration.
Abstracts submitted to the Program Committee should
be accompanied by the filled out registration form. You may download an
empty form for this from a section "Registration form" at the official site
of the Congress, fill it out and insert in your e-mail letter as attached file and send it to the
Organizing Committee (kong04@philol.msu.ru).
There is also a form of registration for participation in work of the Congress without submitting an abstract (for
possible taking part in discussions, seminars and round-tables and acquiring informational material, etc.). Please, specify it in your registration form.
Registration fee - $ 100. For Russian participants and other
participants from the former Soviet republics - 500 roubles).
The payment should be brought in to the Organizing Committee after the
arrival to the Congress (with getting the receipt about the accepted sum).
Registration fee provides participants with a printed collection of Congress abstracts and a package of informational and memorative materials. Three lunches and coffee breaks with snacks (for three working days) are also included.
At the day of arrival (March 17th) two bus shuttles at the Sheremetievo Airport are provided for the safe and convenient getting of the Congress participants to the downtown of Moscow and hotels chosen by them for their stay.
Cultural Program
A bus trip around Moscow and a bus excursion to Sergiev Posad also planned for the modest fee.
The hotel accommodation for Congress participants is supposed to be
organized on the basis of hotel
"Universitetskaja" and of the hotel of MSU.
Details about the cost of residing there and necessary information for
reserving rooms see since November 2003 at the site of Congress in the section "Accommodation".
We expect direct addressing of our guests to the chosen hotels for reservation. In case of some difficulties for this, please, let us know.
Seminars and round table meetings.
Besides plenary and section sessions the seminars and round tables on
key problems of Russian language theory and empirical studies are provided
in the time-table of work of the Congress. Please, send your suggestions for
seminars and round tables topics (with subjects like "Congress
Seminars", "Congress Round-tables" etc.). Suggestions on the subject be forwarded to the Congress e-mail address with specification- "Seminar" or "Round-table".
Those willing to present a short paper at some of the seminars or take part in some of the round-tablesannounced, please, send your suggestions in your e-mail letter with a subject "Participation in ... seminar" or "Participation in ... round-table".

All changes and specification in the time-table of the Congress work and in other aspects of its work will be
operatively reflected at our Congress site in the section Time-table since November 2003.
