Moscow State University offers more than 500 Further Education programs which are different in their duration, subject area and students? workload.
Each program is designed for particular groups of learners: school children, university students, professionals in various fields.
Tuition is arranged to cover a particular program curriculum taking into account the individual schedule of a particular learner to make the learning process more effective. Study modes are very flexible, with full-time, part-time, distance learning and correspondent courses available. A particular program takes from a few academic hours or classes up to 2 or 3 years.
Programs are organized by a faculty or a few faculties working in a specific field and related areas. Classes are conducted by MSU faculty lecturers or invited specialists in the field. Most of lectures and seminars are given in Russian.
We have a rolling enrolment system going on throughout a year, new groups starting on a particular program as soon as they are formed, though many applicants traditionally start in September.
Admission requirements and documents an applicant submits vary and depend on the program the applicant chooses.
Citizens of both the Russian Federation and other countries may apply, the latter on the condition that they have a good command of the Russian language. Non-resident full-time students can live in an MSU dormitory during the academic year and end-of-semester exams.
The full list of Further Education programs offered by all MSU faculties is presented on MSU website: http://www.msu.ru/study/dopobr/.
MBA degrees becoming more and more popular in Russia, MSU runs several MBA programs that have gained a high reputation and popularity among Russia?s business community.
The main goal of our MBA students is to gain profound knowledge to apply effectively in their professional field. MBA program admission requirements include a diploma of higher education. Our students are heads of companies and top managers who want to obtain an additional qualification and professional skills in a new field or those whose aim is to refresh and deepen their professional knowledge.
An MBA course takes 1 or 2 years, depending on the study mode chosen. Courses are divided into modules; the stress is on students? self-guided work and practical implementation of professional knowledge they gain. Modern teaching methods, including interactive tuition and computer-aided methods, are widely used.

Distance education becoming more and more popular, most MSU faculties offer their further education programs on-line. This allows students to study at home if they have an Internet access. However, to gain a degree students receive rigorous academic evaluation and are to pass final examinations.
Diffusion of scientific knowledge being one of MSU missions, visiting MSU museums and attending public lectures delivered by leading MSU academics are very popular among school children and their parents. This is the form of further education that has always been in great demand.
One of the main tasks of the MSU Department of Further Education is continuous upgrading the qualifications of MSU academic staff who are to update themselves on modern teaching methods, educational technologies, psychological and pedagogical aspects of teaching every five years.
