Abstract
Section 1. Investigation of corundum properties transformation during heat treatment under low and high temperatures
During internship students will get basic knowledge and attainments of acquiring and interpretation of spectroscopic (including UV-VIS-IR, Raman and luminescent spectroscopy) and microscopic data on wide collection of gem and near gem quality corundum from different deposits. Students will also take part in the experimental work on heat treatment of corundum samples of different quality and will get knowledge on identification of treated ruby and sapphires.
Section 2. Investigation of formation conditions and corundum properties from different geological origin and from different deposits
During internship students will get basic knowledge and attainments of acquiring and interpretation of spectroscopic (including UV-VIS-IR, Raman spectroscopy), microprobe and microscopic data on wide collection of gem and near gem quality corundum. Students also will get knowledge on finding corundum properties specific for different deposits and different geological origin.
