ETHICS AND ECONOMY Gasratyan C. M. This article is dedicated to problems of ethics and economy. Its purpose is to provide definition for ethics and to investigate relation of its components to contemporary economic categories. The author pays her attention to the works of S.N. Bulgakov, N.A. Berdyaev and contemporary economists (W. Eucken, F. Hayek, etc.), investigating individual and social goods, problems of welfare economics etc. She comes to certain conclusions: ethics have religious origin and includes such categories as individual freedom, sobornost (community), morality, and spiritual and creative human activity. The later is the main component of ethics, and so the author concludes that ethics is an economic category.
