Role of Ozonization from the Standpoint of New Requirements to Drinking Water Quality

Institute of Communal Water Supply and Water Purification, Moscow

In connection with the new guidelines planned to be put as the Federal law in force - a special technical regulations "On the drinking water and the drinking water supply" in many instances the deep water purification should be necessary. The problem could be solved by the optimal application of the reagents as well as by the modernization of the waste disposal plants constructions. At that the role of water ozonization is growing the importance. This method combined with the traditional way, sorption and membrane technologies will secure the fulfillment the requirements of the new guidelines.
Numerous investigations on water purification were carried out. The data on the purification of water from the different sources of various regions of Russia allowed establishing the possibility of ozone application to remove a number of organic and inorganic impurities which have native as well as antropogenic origin (phenol, ammonia, mineral oil, iron, manganese, etc.)
