On December 10, 2015 the Faculty of Journalism, MSU hosted the conference “The Media ecology: the issues of security and sustainable use of communicative resources”, which was organized jointly with National Research University Higher School of Economics and National Association of Mass Media Researchers.
The scholars from Moscow, Saratov, Simferopol, Barnaul, Saint-Petersburg, Minsk discussed the media ecology, the issues of media consumption and media threats.
Dr. Elena Kara-Murza shared the concept of her ?Linguoconflictology? course, which is devoted to studying of the destructive communicative behavior within the public space. Dr. Iosif Dzyloshinsky presented the results of the research he and his colleagues from the Higher School of Economics conducted: the data showed that people tend to see fewer media threats than media experts. Dr. Irina Zhilavskaya told explained how the ?Generation Z? (the children who was born after 2000) see the future of media: they talk without fear about artificial intelligent and media interference in private life.
More than 30 researches were presented during the conference and each of them provoked a discussion. The event showed that the media ecology is in great demand among the academic community and can be an efficient tool to deal with the challenges of modern society.
