Summary
This project is the first attempt to study the Russian patenting system using a quantitative approach to the problem. It examines the main principals of the Russian patenting system functioning in the period from 1812 to 1870. The author analyzed a large collection of statistical sources on the patent granting dynamics and the activity of state institutions concerned with providing patents, while paying special attention to patentees and their charges d'affaires which are insufficiently studied institution in the Russian patenting system.
