The effect of the central atom in the molecules C3H5X(CH3)3 on their transformations mechanism under pulse IR-laser action (X: C, Sn, Ge)

Abstract

The effect of the central atom in the molecules C3H5X(CH3)3 (X: C, Ge, Sn) on the character of the intramolecular vibrational energy redistribution and the mechanism of the chemical transformations is investigated. The analysis of the IR-multiphoton dissosiation regularities as well as the evaluations using the statistical theory RRKM (Rise-Ramsperger- Kassel-Markus) have led to the conclusion that the heavy atom (Ge or Sn) hinders the vibrational energy transfer from the excited group C3H5 to the unexcited one X(CH3)3. It is shown that the change from atom C to atoms Ge or Sn results in the transition from two-channel process (C3H5-X bond dissociation and C3H6 elimination) to the one-channel that (C3H5-X bond dissociation). The reasons of these selective effects are discussed.
