 The professors of the Department read general courses on Vertebrate Zoology and Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy not only on the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University (MSU), but also on the faculties of Geography, Physics, Geology, Fundamental Medicine, Psychology, Bioengineering and Bioinformatics. We are engaged in conducting field summer practice for students of the 1st and the 2nd year of education at Zvenigorod Biological Station of MSU. Such practice includes field excursions and individual research projects. Students and professors of the Department also take part in the international field practice program together with our foreign colleagues from Cranberry Lake Biological Station of the College of Environmental Science and Forestry of the State University of New York (USA). In the last years the Russian part of the program is conducted at the White Sea Biological Station.
More than 30 special courses are read to the students of the Department. There are also several facultative courses. Students of the 2nd year of education join the summer special practice course that is conducted in the form of expedition to various regions of Russia. On the 4th and the 5th year of education students carry out individual research projects and defend them.
The Department graduates 10-15 students each year. Nearly 6 of them later become our post-graduate students. During the last 2 decades nearly 36% of our graduates received PhD degrees and nearly 15% - post-doctoral degrees. Our graduates work in research institutions (36%), institutes of higher education (27%), cultural and educational organizations (18%), environmental conservation organizations (12%), medical institutions (7%).
