Article is devoted to a critical analysis of the structure of modern Russian sociology, which determines the increased attention to the development of branch sociological disciplines. On the one hand, we are talking about an intense professionalization and specialization of sociological knowledge, and on the other hand ­ about fashion, when literally every aspect of the phenomenon or object of social reality is combined with the word "sociology". This fashion, finally, has led to a crisis of divergence of the branch matrix of sociology ­ to the intensive process of horizontal partitioning of a subject field of this science when it gradually filled with the disciplines having with it ever less general. The author in detail analyzes characteristic features of the allocated directions of the process of divergence a branch matrix of a domestic sociological science, its reason and negative consequences.
