The article reveals a key point of scientific activity arrangement - the influence of professional communications on the development of research team structure, as well as on the efficiency of its functioning. Two main methodological paradigms are presented. The role of both qualitative and quantitative approaches is shown. The contemporary level of sociological surveys in the field of scientific activity arrangement is reviewed.
