This article addresses the problem of the death penalty in modern Russian conditions. The author argues against the statements professionals who reject the deterrent value of this measure of social protection. The idea is unconstitutional moratoriums on the death penalty. Author's argument is supported by the analysis of contemporary criminological situation in Russia.
