The paper analyses the theories of modernization of major historical sociologists Reinhard Bendix and Barrington Moore. The theoretical ideas of R. Bendix and B. Moore are compared to those of the classics of sociology. The author demonstrates that there are some basic differences in views on the modernization between the classics of sociology and the contemporary historical sociologists.
