Sadovnichii Victor Antonovich was born on 3 April 1939 in Krasnoplavka village of the Lozovsky district in the Kharkov region. Graduated in 1963 from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics (Moscow State University). Ph.D. in Mathematics and Physics (1974). Professor (1975). Head of the Department of Calculus (1982) at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University. Director of the Institute for Mathematical Studies of Complex Systems (1995). Rector of Moscow State University (1992). Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (1997), Member of Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Member of Bureau for Computer Science, Computer Systems and Automation of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Member of a number of professional academies, such as the International Academy of Astronautics and the Russian Academy of Rocket and Artillery Sciences.
