Kozlov Valery Vasiljevich was born on 1 January 1950 in Kostyly village of the Ryazan region. Graduated in 1972 from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics (Moscow State University). Ph.D. in Mathematics and Physics (1978). Professor (1983). Head of the Department of Mathematical Statistics and Random Processes (1999) at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University. Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2000) and Member of several public academies. Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2001). Lenin Komsomol Prize Laureate (1977), First-Class Lomonosov Prize Laureate (1986), Chaplygin Prize Laureate (1988), State Prize Laureate (1994).
The field of scientific interests: analytical mechanics and theory of dynamical systems, variational calculus, theory of stability, statistical mechanics.
