The Laboratory was established at Skobeltsyn Institute of Nuclear Physics (Moscow State University) in September 2011. It develops mathematical models of ionizing collisions in atomic, molecular, and condensed matter physics. Main areas of current research activity include single and multiple ionization by electron, ion, and photon impact, ionization processes in strong laser pulses, and laser-assisted ionizing collisions. The Laboratory also develops theory for electron-capture and transfer-ionization processes and ionization by an impact of exotic particles (such as neutrino).
The research projects are run in close collaboration with colleagues from the leading Russian universities and scientific centers and from Europe, Japan, USA, and Australia. The Laboratory also actively involves under- and post-graduate students in the research projects. Head of Laboratory is Prof. Yuri V. Popov.
