This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Indian Conference on Computer Vision, Graphics and Image Processing, ICVGIP 2006, held in Madurai, India in December 2006.

The 29 revised full papers and 56 revised poster papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 284 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on image restoration and super-resolution, segmentation and classification, image filtering and image processing, graphics and visualization, video analysis, tracking and surveillance, face-, gesture-, and object-recognition, compression, document processing/OCR, content based image retrieval, stereo/camera calibration, and biometrics.
