Undergraduate students are required to complete 4 years (8 semesters) of study. In order to be considered for admission, students must present a High School Certificate at the time of matriculation. The Bachelor of Arts degree is awarded upon completion of the course.
Graduate students in the Master of Arts program are required to complete 2 years (4 semesters) of study. In order to be considered for admission, students must have a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science diploma at the time of matriculation. The Master of Arts degree is conferred upon completion of the course and successful defense of the Master's Dissertation.
Graduate students in the PhD program are required to complete a minimum of 3 years (6 semesters) in residency. In order to be considered for admission, students must have a Master of Arts diploma at the time of matriculation. The PhD is conferred upon completion of the course and successful defense of the Doctoral Dissertation (traditionally called "Candidate's Dissertation" in Russian).
The History Faculty enrolls MA, PhD. and research students for Post-Graduate Coursework. Post-Graduate students can attend classes, conduct research in libraries, archives and museums, consult with specialists working in their field of interest. Training is based on individual programs outlined in accordance with the student's area of specialization. Time-frame: periods of two months or more.
The History Faculty invites scholars wishing to spend a sabbatical semester or year abroad conducting research in Russia. This program is also accessible for graduate and undergraduate students on a research mission. Visiting scholars and students are welcome to attend any of the Faculty's lectures, seminars, and workshops, to participate in its rich intellectual and cultural life. Our purpose is to facilitate and supplement the independent research of scholars and students on leave from their parent universities or research institutions.
