September 26, 2016 – September 30, 2016
The leading event in the area of quantum electronics, laser physics, photonics and their applications. History of the ICONO series goes back to 1965 and the LAT series of the conferences started in 2002.
ICONO/LAT 2016 will be held in Minsk, the capital and largest city in Belarus, The oldest mentions of Minsk date back to 1067. In 1242 Minsk became a part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and received its town privileges in 1499. From 1569 it was the capital of the Minsk Voivodship in the Commonwealth. It 1793 the whole Belarus including Minsk formed a part of Russia. During 1919-1991 Minsk was the capital of the Soviet Belarus, which became in 1991 an independent€а state.
Minsk is a mind-blowing experience. Reduced to rubble during WWII, architects were given a blank slate to transform ruins into a model Soviet city. Today it's a clean, safe city with many tourist attractions, best enjoyed as locals do - among interesting people in cafes, parks and kicking clubs.
