GEO, Geoinformation Instrumental Environment |
GEO is designed to create problem-oriented information technologies in sophisticated geological applications, such as: mineral, oil and gas exploration, seismic hazard and seismic risk assessment, earthquake prediction, selection of atomic power stations sites, complex environmental zonation of urban territories.
GEO helps to create computer-based models of geological events and phenomenons by processing quality knowledge, experts evaluations of the forecast values and knowledge acquired from geological and geophysical data. Two kinds of problems are solved:
The methods of statistical hypotheses testing and pattern recognition are used to detect precursors of earthquakes and other geological catastrophes by means of the analysis of dynamic of the space-time processes. Poisson as well as one-dimensional and multidimensional Gauss models are considered to estimate precursors significance. The problems are solved interactively by testing hypotheses relevant to different causal models.
The GEO environment integrates geographic information system (GIS) technology with case-based and knowledge-based system technologies. In contrast to traditional GISs, GEO supports:
There is trial production. About 25 copies of the GEO environment have been installed in Russia and abroad (scientific centers in Austria Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, New Zealand).
The performance of GEO on the platform PC AT/486 (80486DX 50 MHz CPU, 256KB Cache, VESA VLB SVGA Graphics Card) for 1024x1024 elements raster fields is comparable with that of professional graphics work station for similar operations.
Developing and manufacturing problem-oriented GIS. Customizing of the GEO technology to suit the specific requirements. Solution of customer's practical problems. Integration of the unique modules and different types of GIS.
