The Faculty of Geography of MSU trains specialists of the highest caliber. The curriculum offers three levels of training. The training for the Bachelor’s Degree lasts for 4 years, the Master’ Degree requires 2 additional years; the training for the Specialist’s Degree lasts for 5 years.
All courses are given in Russian. Therefore, fluency in speaking and writing Russian is necessary for all students.
The most distinctive feature of education in the Faculty is the wide range of geographical specialties and departments. The training for Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees is carried out in the 5 main directions: Geography, Geography and Cartography, Hydrometeorology, Environmental and Natural Resources Management, Tourism. There are 52 Master programs.
The size of the government-sponsored free admission (no tuition fees charged) is fixed at 150 persons. In addition, there are at least 80 vacancies for students who pay for their training (on the basis of a contract between a student and the university).
The Faculty also offers post-graduate (Ph.D.) programs. Post-graduate students have an opportunity to study in a wide range of specialties in which they can obtain their Ph.D.
Different types of part-time courses are available for the continuing education of professionals. Furthermore, there is an opportunity to undertake training courses in the various departments of the Faculty.
Volunteers are able to study on part-time courses without interruption in work.
The academic year at MSU starts in September and ends in June.
