Internet Technologies as a Factor of Increasing the Efficiency of Political Parties

The author addresses the notion of “efficiency of political parties”, exploring opportunities provided by modern information technologies. The author argues that Internet technologies can be viewed as a factor that increases the effectiveness of political parties. Internet technologies provide new opportunities for communication, political mobilization and fundraising. The article also analyzes the problem of transformation of a political party under the influence of Internet technologies. The author concludes that the role of Internet technologies in Russian politics is increasing, while at the same time Russian parties face competition from new collective forms of political activity on the Internet.
