The paper is devoted to social and political situation on the Holy Mountain of Athos during transitional period of its history. The research is based on Russian and Greek sources and precises the actualities of Greek military occupation of Athos in 1912, analyses resident population of the Holy Mountain, its ethnical composition and other parameters of monastic community during the Balkan wars, examines the attitude of different ethnic groups towards the perspective of including Athos into Greece.
