Imperious behavior in Muscovy in the Second Half of the XV Century

Constantine A. Solovjev

Ph.D., professor, School of Public Administration, Lomonosov Moscow State University.

The article analyzes the imperious behavior of Grand Prince of All Russia Ivan III. The author comes to the conclusion that there were three different types (categories) of imperious behavior: ceremonial, formal and informal. The authors conclude that the ceremonial behavior was associated with the Orthodox symbols and rituals, while the official behavior focused more on the literary pattern of behavior of the ruler, formed by the mid-XV century. An attempt to replace official behavior by what can be called unofficial led to serious conflicts, including internal ones in the family of Grand Duke.

Keywords

Russian history, imperious behavior, Moscow State, Grand Duke Ivan III legitimacy of state power.
