The article analyzes the effect of NGOs and public relations on the Western-backed regime change operations in post-Soviet states. The author primarily focuses on “revolutions” in Georgia and Ukraine because they represent a broader strategy implemented by the West in the Eastern hemisphere. In order to best represent the impact of public relations in the region, the author conducts a case study of the conflict in South Ossetia. It is probably the first international conflict in which political communications were of greater importance than conventional weapons.

Keywords

Public relations, Orange Revolution, Rose Revolution, NGOs, South Ossetia, political communications, election campaign.
