The article analyses employee social services in the framework of the idea of occupational welfare, as an integral part of social policy rather than merely a private initiative. They are aimed to cover the social needs of the large group of population. The author discusses the pros and cons of such programs, their influence on labor market development, social solidarity and inequality, interactions between business and the state in social sector. The author concludes that in the mixed welfare economy the role of occupational welfare is likely to increase.
